Week 1 Grades: We Beat dallas

We did it, we did it, we won.  We beat the evil 'girls 13 - 7.  Great start to the 2010 campaign.
Our D came through big time with a Deangelo Hall forced fumble and return for a TD just before the half, which proved to be our only TD of the evening.
While we may have got the win there's still room for improvement as our grades shall bear out.
1. Turn Out: "A"  there was hardly an empty seat in the house very few early/late departures according to the Redskins ~ 91,000 in attendance.  Great Job folks!!!
2.  Opposition Turnout:  "C"  - Based upon some fuzzy logic there were 2 girls fans for every 26 Redskins fans.  So, we're looking at ~ 7.6% girls fans or 7000 total.  While that is much better than the last couple of years.  Marked improvement is still required.  It never ceases to amaze me how many Redskins bring 'girls fans with them to the game.  We should all strive to find at least 1 non-season ticket holding Redskin fan to bring to the game.
3.  East End Zone Scoring:  "A+"  Not only did we shut the opponent out.  We had a D score in our End Zone and we were responsible for the game clinching Noise Induced Hold on the final play. FANTASTIC job guys!  You Did That!!!
4. NIFS: "C"  2 Noise induced False Starts 1 Noise Induced Time Out; Not terrible but didn't reach our goal of 4.   Our noise level needs to be more consistent for longer duration.
5. NIS: "C"  1 Sack on a blitz hardly constitutes a Noise Induced Sack but, 2 key Noise Induce Holding calls the last one to save the games pulls us up from a big fat F to a passing grade.  Again more consistent noise must be maintained.
6.  dB Rating:  N/A - I was so wrapped up in game that I forgot to take decibal ratings.  Anyone know if there are any reliable numbers out there?
7.  Offensive Interruption:  "B"  Not bad but still to much chatter when the O was at the line.  Didn't hear any boos which was nice.

Overall Grade: B-  Got to get the noise levels up and be more consistent.  Avoid sales to stubhub!!!  If you can't sell your extras to a Redskins fan you know try the classified section on extremeskins.  Help us remove ALL blue from our house!

Let's go out next week and see if we can get just a little bit louder than this past week.
Go Skins!!!

Beat Dallas Week Goals

We open the 2010 campaign against our despised arch rivals. There's a renewed sense of energy in Redskins Land. With the addition of Bruce Allen to the front office has come a more intimate connection to the proud tradition and history of our beloved Redskins. The community is rallying together with an enthusiastic hatred for dallas unmatched in several years. As I sit here in my office I hear the random audible of car horns going off akin to the flicker of fire flies on a muggy summer's eve. Altogether singing the notes to the We Hate dallas Anthem which, has become emblematic of Beat Dallas Week in years gone by. Ahhh, how fondly I recall the days when we would decorate the halls of our elementary school with youthful paintings of Redskins battling cowboys during Beat Dallas week. Before I get swept too far deep into the nostalgic waters of my glorious Redskins youth I must cease to digress from the task at hand.

See, unfortunately the last several years have marked a stark downturn towards darkness in Redskins Nation. While there may be several reasons for the shifting of attitudes in our community I am not here to point them out. My calling is not to place blame. For I truly believe each and every one of us must be held accountable for the situation we find ourselves in. I'm simply here as a beacon to help guide us out of this dark forest of disenchantment. All of us that proclaim an allegiance to the Burgundy & Gold must ask ourselves if we're doing everything in our power to ensure the Redskins Spirit is thriving on game day.

Being the eternal optimist that so unfortunately is bound for disappointment, I fully expect game day perfection from the Redskins 12th Man. Based upon last season’s performance we obviously have a long way to go before claiming that title. Nonetheless, I challenge everyone to make this our ultimate goal. We must realize this is going to be a long journey that will surely be more daunting than foot traveling across the Appalachians through the valleys across the rivers and over the mountains. In order to achieve ultimate success we must strive for continued improvement towards excellence. I’ve found throughout my personal and professional experiences that improvement is better attained if there are easily measurable goals that may objectively be evaluated and analyzed. Therefore, we will attempt to identify a set of concrete goals each and every week. Following each week’s performance we will grade our performance with the hope that continued improvement will result in the ultimate attainment of perfection.

Without further ado here’s a list of the East Sider’s goals for opening day Sept. 12th vs. the ‘girls.

1. No more than 2 unoccupied seats per row by the conclusion of the coin toss.

2. No more than 8 ‘girls fans per section. (Baby steps here folks.)

3. NO TDs scored by the ‘girls in the East End Zone. This is our mecca that we must guard against the infidels with every ounce of our being.

4. 3 NIFS (Noise Induced False Starts)

5. 4 NIS (Noise Induced Sacks)

6. 2 NITOS (Noise Induced Time Outs)

7. MAX Decibal Level – 110 dB

8. Avg. Decibal Level on Defense – 90 dB

9. NO Wave or shouting while the offense is at the LOS

10. NO Redskins arguing in an inappropriate fashion with other Redskins fans in the parking lots or stadium before after and during the game. We are family and each and every game day is our family reunion. Let’s not lose sight of the fact that we are reliant upon each other to get this thing right.

Again, let me remind you folks this is a process. This is our first stab at establishing a baseline against which subsequent weeks may be measured. So, don’t be overly critical if certain goals seem out of whack. We’ll adjust these on an ongoing basis. I plan on adding a tips and hints piece for increasing our noise levels on game day. If you don’t already have a strategy in place at least yell as loud as you possibly can before each defensive snap of the ball. Believe me if 90,000 Redskins Die Hards scream at the top of their lungs before each defensive snap of the ball we WILL WIN.

East Siders Unite!

HTTR!!!
